This is a rather large needlebook made to accommodate my new leather needles as well as my smaller hand sewing needles. It was a quick project cutting out 2 rectangles of fabric and 3 layers of batting measuring 3 3/4 inch by 5 1/4 inch. I added a long length of lace that was about a foot long so that the needle case would be wrapped a couple of times to keep it closed. Everything was stacked together and pinned. The fabrics should have the printed sides together, and the batting layers set under that. The ribbon was wound up and placed between the fabric pieces with a little tail sticking out from the bundle. Then it was as simple as sewing around the perimeter leaving a gap and turning through that hole. I ladder stitched the hole closed and had a neat little place to store my needles :) The outside features one of the unicorns on my  Sweet Prizes fabric. This is my outfit for the ren faire. I started out with the Butterick 4827 pattern, but I got rid of the princess seams and back lacing and replaced them with side lacing. Otherwise I went by the pattern on both the dress and the underskirt. The dress is made from a navy satin and the underskirt is a lovely brocade. The finished dress with the underskirt hanging up behind. It has always been one of those things that I wanted to try making, but it was a bit more difficult than I expected. First off, I couldn't find any tutorials on how to put together a side lacing dress. This meant that I was pretty much on my own design wise. What I've come up with does leave an opening in the arm scythe above the lacing, and a bit of my white chemise will show through. The fit through the shoulders gets a bit weird, but I'm not sure if that has more to do with my alterations or the original pattern since I really only altered the seam lines on the side of the dress. Here's another cat toy, that I've come up with. It's just a simple mouse that uses only a few inches of fabric and a bit of ribbon. Perfect for reducing my fabric scrap pile, I'll probably make a few batches of these little darlin's ( I'm southern, I don't pronounce the g) ;)
