This was a pretty straightforward project. I took out the insoles and traced them onto a piece of paper and added a 1/2 inch seam allowance all the way around to make a template. I cut out my fabric and basted it onto the insole being sure to keep the fabric tight enough to prevent any wrinkles or bunching that might make the shoes uncomfortable. Then I sewed all the way around the edge of the insole with the smallest stitch length on my machine to help keep the seam secure, and then inserted them into the shoes. (The bottom was still sticky enough that it didn't really need anything else to keep them in place.) A simple wallet that's just big enough for cards and cash. Mine has my name embroidered on the outside! The main fabric is my  Chinese Paper Cut Dinosaur Red on Black It folds open to reveal pockets for holding cards. And it has the typical cash pocket. This one is lined with my  Garden Carpet Chevron Navy fabric. To start off  you need one of  Spoonflower's  8"x8" swatches of both lining and outer fabric with the white borders still attached. This is the step to embroider the outer fabric if you so choose. To finish the wallet, tuck the lining pocket into the outer shell and fold in half. The outside when opened. Close up on my name.

This box has three of my designs on it: Golden Sea Serpent Golden Dragon Skin Delicate Floral I mostly use this blog in conjunction with my small line of fabric on Spoonflower, but today I'm writing about another medium: paper. Using the designs I originally intended for fabric on paper came about from this amazing website, The Toymake r by Marilyn Scott-Waters. On this website there are some astounding paper toys and boxes. Most of the toys are set up with a blank version that you can print out. I used some of the box templates and placed my fabric designs on them before printing them out. It seriously uncluttered my sewing desk. Today's project is a simple fabric wallet. Just one pocket and a flap to go over it. It was super quick to make. Three pieces is all that it takes: a fabric swatch for the lining ( I used my Red Fox Stripes ), a larger black piece for the outside, and one small black piece to even out the difference between the lining and the outside fabric. I sewed the smaller black piece to the bottom edge of the lining piece. Then I put the lining and the outside piece (which were now the same size) together right sides facing and pinned them. I sewed around the edges leaving a 2" hole for turning. The corners were clipped and then the whole thing was flipped right side out and ironed. I sewed up the hole in the side with a ladder stitch. Then I folded and ironed the bottom third into place. I ran a quick whip stitch up both sides, and then ironed the top flap down. The end. That's all I did. I was thinking about putting in pockets and all that jazz, but I just felt like doing...
