When Spoonflower had their buy one get one sale on fat quarters, I couldn't resist snagging a couple to use with this gorgeous bag pattern. The pattern itself is a free PDF file from the always wonderful blog "Made by Rae". Anywho the urge came upon me to pair a couple of my own designs on the new satin fabric that Spoonflower has rolled out, Lichen for the exterior and  Ceryneian Hind for the lining. Just as a note, it does look like I am going to have to go back and put interfacing or batting onto my  entire liner because having the whole bag made out of such slinky fabric means that it loses its shape when I pile all of my things in there. This is something that I have been dying to share, and this week I finally finished sewing this beauty! It's my first quilt, so I have eased into it with a cheater quilt. Most of the sewing was simple straight lines, but there were a ton of them! Each and every one of those black lines had to be sewn one at a time. I sort of made a game of it trying to see what was the longest unbroken stretch that I could do by pivoting onto the next line when I reached the edge. My little Bernina failed me many times snapping the top thread while I fiddled around with the tension settings. Finally I caved and went to my trusty vintage Singer which got the job done so much easier! I recently got the idea to reupholster my stool. The cats had shredded the faux leather top quite badly, and it just needed to be replaced. It took a single fat quarter of Spoonflower's faux suede to do, and even though it's not at a professional quality, I'm quite pleased with the end result. Here is a  picture of the stool now. Calligraphy Spoonflower is partnering with UPPERCASE, a magazine for the creative and curious, to bring you a special Design Challenge. Together we’re offering designers the chance to create a calligraphy-themed print. Be inspired by the inky elegance of calligraphy!
